I'm often asked how it feels to be in my early 30s, following in the footsteps of a long-established family business as managing director. My honest answer is always: It's an incredibly huge responsibility. But it's also simply my greatest passion!
There's nothing I'm more passionate about than exclusive materials and high-quality lingerie. I grew up with it, and it's been with me since childhood. My goal is to preserve this rich heritage while simultaneously positioning our company optimally for the future. And to add my own unique touch. This only works because we, as a family, are all passionate about the brand and our company's vision, and everyone contributes their skills to the best of their ability. And because we were fortunate enough to find a production partner with whom we can develop this passion long-term.
New car – Medima goes Istanbul
Sometimes you're forced to break new ground and reinvent yourself. But with a generous dose of courage and entrepreneurial spirit, you can succeed in preserving what's good while simultaneously daring to try something new. And when two young entrepreneurs share the same passion for high-quality textiles, a single encounter can make all the difference.
This was exactly how our first meeting with Orhun, a young and ambitious textile entrepreneur in Istanbul, went. Our shared enthusiasm for high-quality natural materials and the desire to build something new together created an immediate bond. We are therefore happy and proud to have found a competent production partner on equal terms with whom we can further develop our vision of high-quality and sustainable lingerie.
Preserving good things – preserving traditions
At Medima, our passion is for exclusive lingerie and segments made from high-quality natural materials. Quality and ecology are paramount in our manufacturing process. As a family business, we have been committed to the traditional Medima brand for generations, with the utmost care and love for our branded products.
Our special knitting machines, which form the basis for processing high-quality natural yarns, have always been at the heart of our production. When we decided to move to Istanbul, it quickly became clear that we couldn't do this without our special machines. Even though many people dismissed it as impossible, our decision was firm: we would dismantle and ship the entire production facility in Germany, and then rebuild it exactly as it was together with our production partner in Istanbul. Fortunately, we were accompanied on this mammoth project by our long-standing knitting master. Thanks to his decades of experience, he is not only a specialist in our special knitting machines, but thanks to his Turkish origins, he is also able to provide optimal support in training new employees during the production transition.
